WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT YOUR CAMPUS?: The diverse personalities at my campus from different African countries, the high level of discipline amongst IUIUians, Its beautiful girls who are understanding, brilliant, loyal and God fearing. Its academic excellence.
WHERE DO YOU THINK IT HAS FAILED?: In respecting Student’s leadership more especially in decision making that involve Students, Not respecting the IUSU’s independency by the administrators. Something that I believe, the administrators should leave students’ leaders run their activities and they demand the accountability but not for them doing everything for the students’ leaders…now who will account the other? hahaa My IUIU!!!
HOW DO YOU RECOMMEND IT?: Well, its good and I believe it can emerge the best in the World provided they give due respect to Students’ leaders and value IUSU’s independency in exercising its duties.
HOW MANY STARS WOULD YOU GIVE IT OUT OF 5?:3 stars
WHAT’S YOUR VIEW ON IUIU LEADERSHIP?: Well I don’t know which leadership you meant whether its for the administrators or Students. However, I will handle that of students. One, I love it because students are given a platform to vote for the leaders of their choice, indeed students leaders somehow somewhere, are incorporated in some of the university programmes, The students are free to exercise their leadership skills at all levels, students are free to establish their associations hence acquiring leadership skills etc however, IUIU female students and non Muslims are somehow, limited in taking up big positions of responsibilities such as guild presidency, speakership etc, Somehow administrators sabotage students’ leaders ideas and programmes which frustrate their excellence, the high level of bureaucracy is somehow a bottleneck to students’ leaders progress and lack of political parties at IUIU, it augurs differently……”Hope you know what I am talking about”
GIVE A BRIEF AND CLEAR INSIGHT ON BALANCING BOOKS AND LEADERSHIP: Well, it takes all about what you want to be in future, you must value time, have a personal timetable for executing leadership activities and Academics and let that timetable control you.
DO YOU BELIEVE IUIU HAS EQUIPPED STUDENTS WITH THE BEST THEY DESERVE, HOW?
Yes and No.. WHY YES? because IUIU has tried to create a platform that entertain free interaction amongst Students and their lecturers. It has allowed students to get leaders of their choice who act as their go between to reach administration. Libraries are there, equipped with books and above all there’s is accessibility to WiFi not forgetting qualified lecturers at all levels something that facilitates academic excellence because the major aim of a student coming to IUIU is academics.
WHY NO? The definition of a University simply means universality of Knowledge, the restrictions in free mixing amongst opposite sex, limits free sharing of knowledge and ideas. The strict IUIU rules and regulations, have kept students in fear not forgetting Unreasonable expulsions too. The limitations in allowing female students and non Muslim students to take part in some positions of responsibilities, leave such students not exercising and acquiring leadership skills and exposure. Its policy of non partisan, still is disadvantageous to students’ political career excellence and bars their exposure too and networking for brightening their future hence limiting its students to take part in the National Politics which I think is bad.
HOW DO YOU INTEND TO MAINTAIN IUIU’S MERIT AS A LEADER? Well, its about knowing who constitute IUIU and these are students and administrators. Therefore, as a leader, I must stand in between the two and advocate for what is more proper and suitable for both parties minus squeezing the other ie. thru embracing dialogue, a win-win solution for both. Having students’ Congresses, lecturer – student’s workshops. Preaching to students their roles and safeguarding the image of their mighty institution which it has held for over decades.
WHICH ADMINISTRATOR DO I WISH TO IMITATE AT YOUR CAMPUS?: The Rector, he is parent, listens, understands, advises, encourages, knowledgeable, intelligent, and above all is a God fearing.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST BETWEEN YOUR COURSE AND PERSONALITY?:
My Personality. It’s my driver to everything and people judge me basing on it. Actually its primary and my course is secondary.
ANY MESSAGE TO FELLOW STUDENTS?:
Well, I believe, IUIUians 99% if not 100% are purely Africans and are youths, therefore, no one (those so called French, Americans, British, Chinese etc) will ever come to build our continent Africa……it’s us the African Young generation to analyse Africa’s status quo, and see whether we are being represented on the global setting. If you get yes as your answer please sit and relax BUT IF YOUR ANSWER IS NO….. JUST ASK YOURSELF WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR YOUR AFRICAN CONTINENT. FOR ITS DEVELOPMENT? AND START THERE AND THEN. Believe me, we can make Africa great more than those Continents it is all about determination and love for Africa.
And my African IUIUians you must know that those people (the so called Whites) don’t like us the Africans rather they are interested in our resources we have. Let’s embrace unity amongst we the ourselves. Also, the globe being under the threat of COVID-19, Please stay home, stay safe and embrace all directives being issued by the authorities for our safety. Please my fellow colleagues, revise your books. Always believe in your dreams, stay focused and pursue all your dreams eventually they will come true. We are ready to serve you, our doors are open come seek for any help. Stay prayerful to ALLAH and respect those in authority….. Thanks.
Yusuf is a pure Pan Africanist concerned of Continent development.
