Lets talk about the Peoples Parliament

Qn:Briefly tell us about the public parliament.

Ans:Well, it’s an opportunity given to general public to constitute a Parliament and deliberate on issues of national concern as normally done by the Parliament of Uganda. In other words, it’s a way the Parliament engages the public in legislation.

Qn:Who are the representatives then?

Ans:The general public from all over Uganda.

Qn:What of the members…(Elected MPs)?

Ans:They remain representatives of their respective constituencies though on that day, their seats are taken over by the general public.

Qn:Whats the relationship between you and the public parliament?

Ans:I was voted for as the speaker and chaired the house. I’m therefore I retain the Title as the Speaker of the Public Parliament 2020-2021.

Qn:Ohhh, thiz sounds nice.
You were voted for!
Did you go for an election? If yes, against who?

Ans:Yeah, I went for elections and contested with over six other members.

Qn:This must be good news for iuiu…
What did it take for you to get there?

Ans:Indeed. It took me courage and prayers.

Qn: How did u feel after assuming that office?

Ans:It was exciting. It is my happiest moment on earth so far.

Qn:What made u stand for that position?

Ans:It’s the spirit of activism and leadership in me. And another thing, I always admire the position of speakership and I was once the speaker of Kampala in UNSA.

Qn:Tell us one motion that you presided over.

Ans:The motion was
“Commending the government of Uganda for building a strong democracy.

Qn:Do you think a single day in a every year is enough for such public involvement?

Ans:It’s really not enough compared to views and wisdom Ugandans exhibit in the debates every year.

Qn:What do you think should be done?

Ans:I think people should be given a whole week to exhaust their ideas.

Qn:How useful are peoples views to nation devt?
Are their views applicable in nation administration?

Ans:The resolutions of the public Parliament are treated like they were for the actual Parliament.

Qn:Any inspirational message to fellow students?

Ans:Well to my fellow students, don’t let anyone else define you. It’s you to make a good definition of yourself for most people’s definitions are toxic and negative in nature. Many will discourage you but you just have to stay focused.
