The Islamic University In Uganda that was to start it’s second semester of academic year 2020-21 on 26th June later extended to 5th July and used the previous date to sensitize students and staff to use the online learning.
In the online sensitization that was organized by the university Academic Registrar, Zoom, ERP and other online platforms were agreed upon to host the lectures that started on 5th July.
However, learners have reminded of the 75% attendance policy and asked to consider it.
Mr. Katumba Abbas a lecturer at the Females campus in the faculty of management wrote to management students asking them to ensure that they attend theonline lectures. “We are capturing attendances, the policy of 75% class attendance still applies for you to sit the final exams”, Mr. Katumba said.
Though it was a reminder to management students, we also learnt that the entire students fraternity was asked of the same.
The 75% students attendance is a policy that the University set up to ensure that students can attend lectures for at least 10 weeks out of the 15 weeks of normal lectures in the semester.
